about
Recorded here and there over the past couple of years in various spaces. This is by far the oldest recording I have for this album, but with the most recent updates. Initially recorded with Parker Van Der Hyde and Zach Tittle in Parkers shed, sprinkling in additional synth, strings, and vocals over the past couple of years. Final vocals were recorded on Rowens bed using an SM57 with a sock over it it trying out ideas one day during quarantine.
lyrics
I would like to paint
A portrait of my true self
But I could never seem to
Settle on a color
Woke up from a dream last night
That seemed to die over me
I was dressed up like a queen
Lights were all burning bright
Passing right through me
The room
Swooning and sweet
For our entertainment
We dance
On the stage
In the palace of the night
No ones looking to see
What you’re about tonight
Take a sip from your coat and see
Where you’ll be you won’t believe
For the rest of your life be what you ought to be
Entertainment is hard to find in a world thats so confining
Maybe when I’ve grown I could shed some discontent
Feel a little less
Oh how I wish I could love the reflection
My true self
